Sun Gazing to Access the Light Within

MEDITATION: PART OF THE SPIRIT MATTERS PATHWAY TO STRENGTH AND GRACE THROUGH A HOLISTIC PRACTICE DESIGNED FOR THE JOYFUL EVOLUTION OF YOU!

"So you want to meditate, but you don't think you have time? Here is a simple meditation that you can do every day no matter what is going on in your life. It has been called Staring at the Sun, or Sun-Gazing.

Keep a small candle near your bed and light it when you wake up each morning. Squint your eyes until you see a little tendrils of light reaching from the flame towards you like the rays of the sun. Look into the candle flame and imagine that its light is entering your heart. Feel it emanate and connect, and permeate your being with illumination and friendship. Honor the light that is within you by feeling gratitude inside, then open your eyes and extend this gratitude out to all you see.

You can also do this same exercise using the sun. Just squint towards the sun, perhaps as you sit in your care in the morning before you start to drive. (This exercise is different from formal sun gazing, in which you would not squint, but here you are wanting to see little rays of light move into your heart so squinting is the process). OF course, only do this when the sun is very low in the sky, or it may hurt your eyes. Notice how the rays of light go right towards you and imagine opening your heart, so the rays can reach deep inside. Try this even when the sun is behind the clouds, knowing that the light is always there, just as the light of the Divine is always within you.

The sun provides a powerful metaphor for the Light Within. It shows you how to begin to honor that which is whole and never broken, no matter where you have been. We do not find fulfillment by searching outside ourselves, but rather by looking within to find our Self. If you want to improve the state of your being, go on a journey to the center of your soul, where empowerment and enlightenment already lives."
